The “11th Principle” isn’t an official Burning Man principle, but it has become a widely embraced community guideline: Consent. At its core, consent means respecting each person’s autonomy, boundaries, and right to choose what happens to their body, their space, and their experience.
Consent is clear, voluntary, and enthusiastic—never assumed. Whether it’s a hug, a photo, a touch, or joining an activity, always ask first and wait for a genuine “yes.”
